My name is Thorsten Schiebler. I'm a father of three, I work in IT, and I'm curious about a wide range of topics. Software and programming have fascinated me for years. For a long time, though, I simply didn't have the time to build my own app. Only with today's tools has the effort become small enough for me to finally turn my idea into something real.
In everyday life I keep noticing that my memory doesn't hold on to everything. A few questions come up again and again:
Between family, work and countless obligations, details like these pile up. And they're exactly the ones that slip away most easily.
At the same time, I've realised how many of my grandparents' stories have already been forgotten. I would have loved to write them down and keep them for the family. That experience showed me how valuable memories and personal stories are – and how easily they're lost.
My work involves a lot of data protection and IT security. So it was clear to me from the beginning that personal data needs special protection. I care about modern security standards and about keeping data within Europe wherever possible.
For me, peok isn't just a project for other people. It's above all an app I want to use every day myself. It's an extension of my memory: a place where memories, information and shared experiences have their home.
If peok also helps others tend to their relationships more mindfully and remember the moments that matter, then the project has achieved its goal.
